Dingle Whiskey Distillery in Ireland with barrels and sign.

History of Dingle Distillery

The Dingle Whiskey Distillery, founded in the winter of 2012 in Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland, was established by Oliver Hughes, Liam LaHart, and Peter Mosley, the trio behind the Porterhouse Brewing Company.

The founders, pioneers in the Irish craft brewing scene since 1996, ventured into whiskey distillation amidst Ireland’s recession, filling their first casks on December 18, 2012.

The distillery, known for prioritizing quality over quantity, uses three distinctive, hand-crafted copper pot stills to create a smooth and pure Irish whiskey.

Their first whiskey cask was released on December 19, 2015. Dingle Distillery also offers a unique Founding Fathers program, where 500 casks were made available for investment, allowing investors to choose their preferred wood for maturation and decide on the bottling time.

The distillery produces whiskey, gin, and vodka, and is recognized as a pioneer in the resurgence of artisan distilleries in Ireland.

Flask & Barrel Review of Dingle Distillery

Hey there! Just wrapped up the Dingle Distillery tour and I’ve gotta say, it’s a solid 4.7 out of 5 in my book. As a whiskey collector, I’ve seen my fair share of distilleries, but Dingle has a unique charm.

The tour took us through the whiskey, gin, and vodka making process – super informative and not too technical.

The tastings? Top-notch. Their gin was a pleasant surprise, and the whiskey, well, it was just what you’d expect from a distillery with such a rep.

The only hiccup – the place isn’t wheelchair friendly, and there’s a bit of stair climbing involved. But hey, all in all, a fantastic visit. Totally recommend it to anyone into spirits!
