Overall Experience: 4.7 / 5
First off, the setting is super charming. Glencadam is one of those quiet, less-visited spots, which makes the experience feel really personal and special. The new visitor center, set to open in 2025, is going to be a game-changer with its modern amenities like a whisky lounge and tasting rooms. But even without it, the current setup is cozy and welcoming.
The tour itself is by appointment only, which means no big crowds. I loved this because it gave us more time to ask questions and really soak in the details. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate, sharing fascinating stories about the distillery’s history, which dates back to 1825. Seeing the copper pot stills and fermentation tanks up close was a treat.
Now, onto the best part—the tastings. We got to sample several of Glencadam’s single malts, including some limited editions. The 10 Year Old was a highlight for me—light, fresh, and just a perfect aperitif whisky. The 15 Year Old, though, stole the show with its richer, more complex flavors. Each whisky was non-chill filtered and naturally colored, which really lets the true character of the spirit shine through.
