History of Glentauchers Distillery

 

Founding and Early Years

  • Establishment: Glentauchers Distillery was founded in 1897 in Mulben, Keith, Scotland. The distillery’s design was the brainchild of John Alcock, with Charles Doig & Son overseeing its construction.
  • Initial Collaboration: The distillery began production a year after its founding, following a collaboration between James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and three members of the Glentauchers Distillery Co.

In 1985, the distillery was mothballed by United Distillers. It was later sold to Allied Distillers in 1989. These changes marked significant periods in the distillery’s history, reflecting the dynamic nature of the whisky industry.
