Flask & Barrel Review of Hellyers Road Distillery
First things first, the location is just stunning. Perched up on a hilltop in Havenview, the views over Emu Valley are something else. It’s not just about the scenery, though; the whiskey here is seriously good.
They’ve got this ‘Secret Still’ that’s all about crafting unique single malts, and you can really taste the difference. The triple-distilled stuff and their peated whiskies? Top-notch.
The Whisky Walk tour was a highlight for me. It’s not every day you get such an in-depth look at the distilling process, and the chance to bottle your own whisky is a pretty cool touch.
Plus, the Visitor Centre is something else – you can tell they’re proud of what they do, and rightly so.
The restaurant’s a great spot to wind down after the tour. The food pairs perfectly with their whiskies, which, by the way, are some of the best I’ve had.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say it gets a bit busy, but that’s just a sign of how popular the place is. And honestly, it didn’t take away from the experience at all.
Overall, I’m giving Hellyers Road a solid 4.7 out of 5. Whether you’re a whisky connoisseur or just looking for a unique Tasmanian experience, this distillery is well worth the visit.
The combination of stunning views, exceptional whisky, and top-notch tours makes for an unforgettable day out.
