History of Isaiah Morgan Distillery

Isaiah Morgan Distillery, located in West Virginia, has a unique history rooted in the tradition of crafting small batches of Corn Whiskey, particularly during the prohibition era. This tradition is a significant part of the Appalachian region’s lore. In 2002,

Rodney Facemire obtained the license for the distillery, making it West Virginia’s first mini-distillery and the smallest still in the United States.

Initially, Isaiah Morgan products were only available in state-licensed spirits retailers and couldn’t be sold directly at the distillery.

However, noticing tourists’ disappointment at being unable to purchase spirits at the production site, Rodney Facemire envisioned the concept of mini-distilleries. He assembled a government and business leaders team to create a new industry for the state.

Today, Isaiah Morgan Distillery offers a unique experience for visitors. Tourists can visit the historic site, observe the crafting process, and purchase various spirits on-site, including 50ml and 750ml bottles of Southern Moon, Rye, Bourbon, and Grappa.

This development preserves the distillery’s rich heritage and contributes to the local economy and tourism industry.
