History of Panther Distillery
Panther Distillery, established as Minnesota’s first legal whiskey distillery, has a fascinating history rooted in the state’s rich spirit-making traditions. Founded in 2011 by Adrian Panther, the distillery stands out for its commitment to crafting exceptional whiskey and its unique location in Osakis, Minnesota.
Founding and Early Vision
Establishment and Founder’s Vision
Panther Distillery was founded in 2011 by Adrian Panther in Osakis, Minnesota. Adrian, an entrepreneur and whiskey enthusiast, was driven by the simple yet profound idea of bringing great spirits to Minnesota. He teamed up with Brett Grinager, a master distiller with significant experience and creativity, to bring his vision to life.
Location and Facility
Situated in the heart of pristine lake country in Osakis, the distillery benefitted from abundant natural resources. Notably, it utilized a facility in Browerville, formerly a Land O’ Lakes building, to store and age its whiskey and bourbon following a fire and explosion in 2013, which left the original plant inoperable.
Distillery Operations and Production
Use of Local Ingredients
Panther Distillery is distinguished by its use of locally sourced ingredients. All the grains used in their distillation process come from within a 30-mile radius of the distillery. Emphasizing this local approach, some of the distillers even grow the grains themselves.
