Established in 1879, Aberlour is a charming distillery nestled in the scenic region of Speyside. Originally built by James Fleming after the unfortunate fire that consumed the previous distillery, it became a valuable addition to the S. Campbell & Son portfolio in 1945.
Throughout the years, Aberlour has catered to the demand for their renowned Clan Campbell and White Heather blends. In 1973, the distillery expanded its production capacity to meet the growing popularity of its spirits.
The following year, Pernod-Ricard acquired the company, operating it under the name Campbell Distillers before merging it with Chivas Brothers, acquired from Seagram in 2001. Notably, the introduction of the esteemed A’Bunadh in 1997 significantly heightened Aberlour’s prestige, making its output from all eras highly sought after.
A’Bunadh embodies the tradition of 19th-century single malts by being bottled at cask strength. In those times, villagers would personally collect their dram straight from the cask at the distillery, often using apothecary bottles sourced from the local chemist.
These historical practices served as inspiration for the distinctive bottle shape of A’Bunadh. This exceptional whisky is exclusively bottled from Spanish Oloroso sherry butts, believed to have aged between 5 and 25 years.
Presenting Batch #6, released in 1999, this release marks the first in the series to bear a batch number, distinguishing it from the previous unmarked editions.
